About This Project

THE PROJECT

 

A complete Home Staging Project of an authentic heritage fisherman’s house, situated in front of the sea in the picturesque village of Calella de Palafrugell, Girona.

 

The project’s main challenge was to transform the appearance of a house with a 70’s era look and feel in order to attract the interest of a very select type of buyer in the 21st Century.

 

To achieve this, we chose to work extensively on a strategy centered on intangible values: environment, history, tradition, character, authenticity, the Empordà-Costa Brava brand and the luxury that simplicity can bring. We took the qualities of legacy and high-value and crafted them into a more up-to-date image that made it more palatable for sale without sacrificing the authentic character of the property

 

After a deep de-personalization of the house, our creative team opted to combine ingredients of the Neo-Rustic trend, with minimalist touches and true Mediterranean elements: natural fibres, organic finishes and selected details of refreshing colour.

 

Some spaces of the house were converted into more liveable and user-friendly rooms, ensuring a more successful real estate sale. The most notorious example was found on the ground floor, with the uninviting dark space that was previously used as a boat storage area. For this project, we transformed this space into a pleasant and spacious lounge that acts as a shelter from the intense heat in summer or the cold and blustery days of winter.

 

The surroundings of the property, which lies within the Protected Historical Zone of Port Bo, also played an important role in this staging, since it was integrated into the decor and used as a part of the sales pitch. We worked with the Arxiu Històric of Palafrugell to recover old photographs depicting the lives of the fishermen who inhabited these houses at the beginning of the 20th Century.

 

The area of the house which totals 300m2, is distributed across 5 floors with a variety of stunning views of the sea to the east and a beautiful cobblestone street and white facades to the west. With numerous spaces for leisure, rest and enjoyment that caters to all of the senses, this property is a truly authentic Mediterranean gem, located in one of the most charming coastal towns of the entire Costa Brava.
